Voor het tweede jaar vindt het Brussels Privacy Symposium plaats. Het evenement is helaas al volgeboekt, maar op deze pagina worden na afloop de artikelen en presentaties geplaatst.

Het symposium heeft de titel: AI Ethics: The Privacy Challenge. Onderzoekers en beleidsmakers bespreken op 6 november aanstaande praktisch, toepasbaar en inhoudelijk privacyonderzoek. De De focus zal liggen op: "developing ideas that address the ethical challenges associated with the new capabilities Artificial Intelligence technologies present for democratic institutions, human autonomy, and the social fabric of our society.

This academic workshop will discuss ways to harness the power of AI and machine learning to better protect individuals’ privacy and security, helping consumers to navigate complex sociotechnical architectures in smart cities and homes, transportation systems, financial transactions, and content platforms. Papers are expected to address areas such as algorithmic due process and accountability, fairness and equity in automated decision making, societal implications of autonomous experimentation and leveraging AI to enhance privacy."

Technologische ontwikkelingen stellen privacy professionals voor uitdagingen. Het schrijven (en naleven!) van een privacybeleid is voor een organisatie een goede uitgangspositie, maar daarna moet 'privacy by design' (en/of 'privacy by default') toegepast worden als nieuwe technieken zich aandienen. Betrek uw privacy officer dus op tijd bij AI of andere technologische innovaties die u wilt toepassen!
